Looking back on my life so far on the things that I have done to get me where I am today I cant help but thank the people along the way who have helped me get here and most of all God. Born and raised in Conroe, Texas on February 25, 1982 I grew up always wanting to be a cowboy but didn't know the steps that I was going to take along the way to get there.
Growing up I was involved in various agriculture activities from helping Dad with the cattle herd or doing fair projects through 4-H and FFA. During high school I played football and ran track, these where some of the best times I had growing up learning fundamental athletic and life skills that I would use in the future. Once Graduating Conroe High School in 2001 I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and arrived at boot camp just 2 weeks after my graduation. After my time at boot camp I then came home for a few weeks and witnessed on TV like many other Americans the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. From there I would go on to serve 2 combat tours in Iraq as an explosives specialist attached to an infantry unit. I was with one of the first waves through the border on March 21, 2003 when the United States invaded Iraq and was there when the statue of Saddam fell in Baghdad. My second tour was a year later when I participated in the battle of the Najaf Cemetery and Faluja 2. I then came back to California where I had been stationed at Camp Pendleton for the past four years and was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps as a Sergeant in June of 2005.
After my service in the Marine Corps I then began school at Montgomery Community College in Conroe, TX and decided that I needed something else to do to occupy my time. Growing up with a father who was involved with rodeo riding bareback horses in high school I always wanted to try my hand at it but didn't really ever have the opportunity to do so with the other activities that I was involved in. I first tried saddle bronc riding and enrolled in a Sankey Rodeo School, which by the way is a tribute to my success today, much to my dislike I did not possess the finesse and timing style that it takes to succeed in Saddle Bronc Riding so decided to try out the Bareback Riding and was immediately successful. Amateur rodeos came next where I competed at for a full year until I bought my Pro Rodeo Permit and began entering Pro Rodeos. It took me most the year to fill my first permit and got my second permit the year after and filled it pretty quickly. 2010 is my rookie year of being a contestant card holder and am about to finish it as of October 1, 2010. There are many goals in my future that I plan to accomplish like making it to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV. From the time that I started rodeoing I have since completed a bachelors degree in Agricultural Business and a minor in Finance from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. I spend most of my time when I am away from rodeos keeping in shape by doing CrossFit. Keeping a strong mind and body is one of the essential elements in success as an athlete.
SUFFER TODAY AND BE A CHAMPION TOMORROW!
